    The soybean seed coat is a conditioner of germination capacity, vigor and seed longevity. Much of the characteristics of the tegument are associated with specific problems presented by seeds, such as susceptibility to mechanical damage is associated with its lignin content, while longevity and deterioration in the field have been related to the degree of permeability of the seed coat.
